BGCMC proudly served every 6th grade student at all four elementary schools in Greenfield, CA reaching a total of 369 students. The boys participated in SMART Moves programming and the girls participated in Girls’ Health in Girls’ Hands (GHGH) programming. These 8 week programs heavily focused on Healthy Relationships and Self Esteem. Through these programs, youth were able to create a safe space with BGCMC staff to ask questions they might be embarrassed to ask a parent/guardian.

The Club offers 6th grade students support during a crucial period of development. It is a time when they are experiencing significant physical, emotional, and social changes, as they prepare for middle school. By providing programs and resources that support them during this period, we can help them build the skills, knowledge, and self-confidence necessary to navigate this transition successfully.

“The Clubs programs give youth access to more comprehensive and integrated health information, help develop powerful leadership skills, and influence positive changes at their schools and in their communities.” Veronica Hernandez, Principal at Arroyo Seca Academy
