Staff at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County take pride in their commitment to the environment, whether that comes in the form of our solar panels, composting and gardening programs, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) initiative, or our eco-friendly low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) carpeting.

Respect for our environment is something we hope will be reflected in our members as they move forward in their own lives.

Two weeks ago, work began on an ambitious project in Salinas to replace the Clubs’ carpeting. While the project is already underway, according to BGCMC Associate Vice President Ron Johnson, an additional $30,000 is still being sought to carpet the rest of the facility. Work on the first floor was completed thanks to two $10,000 donations from John D’Arrigo and Howard and Karin Evans.
