Luis O., Seaside High class of 2022, is a recent example of the life-changing impact the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County can have on a young person’s future. His journey began in 2017, when Luis and his 2 younger brothers joined the Seaside Club.
From the start, the Club became a second home for Luis—a place filled with hope, guidance and support. Luis often reflects on how the Club programs, like College and Career Readiness and Youth of the Year helped him navigate the often challenging high school years. Luis earned three academic scholarships giving him a pathway to college. financial support to pursue his college education. Luis is currently in his second year at University of California at Santa Barbara, where he’s pursuing a degree in electrical engineering.
As a first-generation college student, Luis is setting a powerful example for his younger brothers, showing them that hard work and determination pays off!
