At Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County, Leadership & Workforce Readiness is one of our key priorities. Through programs like Youth of the Year and College & Career Readiness, we help teens build the confidence, leadership skills, and experience they need to pursue their goals beyond the Club.
Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs’ premier recognition program, celebrating members who demonstrate leadership, achievement, and service. This year, eight teens from our Seaside and Salinas Clubhouses stepped forward to compete.
Congratulations to Miley H. and David Z., our Clubhouse Runners-Up. Miley, a four-year Salinas Club member and student-athlete, plans to attend UC Irvine to study psychology. David, a nine-year Seaside Club member, plans to attend Hartnell College to study kinesiology.
Marissa R. and Edward C. were named their Clubhouse Youths of the Year and will compete on October 21 to become the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County Youth of the Year. Marissa has been a Salinas Club member for 10 years and hopes to pursue her future after high school. Edward, a four-year Seaside Club member, dreams of attending Berklee College of Music to study music production.
These young leaders are building skills that will serve them well in college, careers, and life. Through our College & Career Readiness Program, we continue to help Club members explore their futures and take meaningful steps toward achieving their goals.
Join us on October 28 as we celebrate these inspiring teens, hear their stories, and announce our 2027 Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County Youth of the Year.
