Ways to Support

All of the children in our community deserve the right to be cared for, nurtured and given the opportunity to reach their potential. It is a proven fact that children are at greater risk of being involved in crime, substance abuse, and teenage pregnancy in the hours after school.

It may surprise you to know that our members pay an annual fee of just $25 per year, yet it costs approximately $750 annually for each child to participate in our programs. Every dollar we receive counts. Consider how your dollar can benefit the kids of Monterey County.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County provide a safe and positive environment, offering programs for children ages 6 to 18. The Club offers the social and emotional support needed to meet the challenges of our youth’s changing environment. Our Clubs help develop self esteem, positive values and skills through a variety of educational, cultural, social, health and recreational programs. Our programs are continually improving to meet our members' many needs.

There are several ways to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County. Please consider:

• General Support
• Honorariums & Gifts in Memory
• In-Kind Gifts
• Adopt a Family Holiday Programs
• Planned Giving & Endowment
• Volunteer Opportunities

General Support
Donations made to General Support are used where they are needed most...this could be supplies for the Science Room, or to pay the annual fee for a family in need, or simply to help ensure we keep a clean and safe facility in top notch condition.

In-Kind Gifts
In-Kind Gifts come in many forms and are always welcomed.

In-Kind Gifts can include:
Donations of tangible items: Some good examples are cars and boats, refrigerators and microwaves, art, sports equipment, clothing, and shoes.
Donations of services: Examples range from legal and financial advice, marketing and advertising services, grant writing, photography, or volunteering with Club members and mentoring.

Adopt-a-Family Holiday Program
As Christmas approaches this year, the negative effect of the economic downturn on many families has become increasingly visible. Faced with the harsh reality that their finances are already stretched too thin, many Club families are reaching out to organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County to help provide their children with a positive holiday experience.

During the months of November and December, we invite you to make this holiday season a truly joyous one for our youth. We need your help to provide support to children in need during this holiday season. If you would like participate in our “Sponsor a Family” Program, you can:
• Sponsor a family in any amount you wish. It costs approximately $100-$125 to outfit one child.
• Donate a gift to be given to a family in need;
• Participate in Santa’s Workshop by wrapping gifts in the month of December.

For assistance, please call Lee Ann Luongo at (831) 394-5171 x211, or via email at lluongo@bgcmc.org

Volunteering
An hour a week, respect for children, and a desire to make a difference are the main requirements for volunteering at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County. We have many different opportunities at each of our locations. Volunteers are needed year-round for academic advancement, coaching team sports, weight training and conditioning, art instruction, teen activities, computer instruction, science research and fund raising events.
