Michelle Slade

Michelle Slade, Vice President of Impact Advancement

Department: Executive Staff
Email:

Michelle Slade works with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC) as the Vice President of Program Development & Services.  In this role, she is responsible for ensuring positive Member Impact by maintaining consistency and quality in BGCMC youth development services, effective human resource management and outstanding program operations across all Club sites to achieve the BGCMC Mission:  to inspire and empower the youth of Monterey County to realize their full potential to become responsible, healthy, productive and successful citizens.  To achieve this, she oversees a talented, passionate and committed team of Senior Managers.

Throughout her various roles since joining BGCMC in 2002, Michelle integrates her passion for supporting the success of young people through transformative youth development, service learning leadership development, cultural competency and educational equity work with effective human resource management and community collaborations to empower a generation, one child at a time.

Prior to joining the BGCMC team, Michelle worked for six years as a Founding Staff Member with the Service Learning Institute at California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) where she developed and directed a nationally recognized model service learning leadership development program, coordinated partnerships between faculty, students and community organizations and taught SL 200 - Introduction to Service in Multicultural Communities, Middle & High School Outreach.

Motivated by her own experience in overcoming many childhood disadvantages (e.g., domestic violence, drug abuse in the home, financial struggles, etc.) she strived to become the first in her family to be a college student and graduate. Michelle reached that goal, graduating with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1995, earning a B.S. in Social and Rehabilitation Services.  She is currently identifying opportunities to advance her formal education while successfully balancing work and family to build upon her graduate studies in the Masters in Education Program at CSUMB.

In addition to her passion for supporting the success of children and youth through her professional work and as a volunteer, including as a Mentor with the ECHO Mentoring Program and Pathways Foundation, Michelle is passionate about spending time with her husband Peter (her sweetheart since junior high) and son Aiden who will turn 5 this Fall and is eagerly awaiting turning 6 so he can join The Club.
