Marlene Trotter, Seaside Unit Director
Department: Unit Directors & Coordinators
Email:
Marlene Trotter is the Unit Director for the Seaside Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County. Prior to joining our staff in 2000, she worked for the Salvation Army Interim Home in Hilo, Hawaii where she collaborated with the Boys & Girls Clubs there. Marlene began working with youth when she was in High School, developing her artistic skills in community theater and using creative dramatics as a tool to teach independent living skills to other teens. Now, 20 years later, she continues to follow her passion working with youth.
Marlene joined the BGCMC team as the Teen Coordinator. From there, she focused her efforts on Health and Life Skills and Arts programming for all ages. When the Harden Youth Development Center opened in 2005, she became the Wellness Coordinator serving the Seaside and Salinas Clubhouses. As her youth development experience, programming knowledge and community partnerships expanded over the years, Marlene attained a position as the Program Director.
In May of 2009, Marlene accepted the Unit Director position in Seaside with open arms. She enjoys the consistency of working in one Clubhouse and focusing attention on Club culture, wellness, academic success, and civic engagement with the youth and families of the Seaside community. BGCMC has become a second home for Marlene and she cherishes the relationships she has with the staff, members, families and community partners she has worked with over the years.
