Brigitte Wasserman, Board of Directors

Brigitte was born and raised in Germany, and moved to the United States in 1960.  In 1963, she married Mel Wasserman.  Together they raised three children, who are now all grown, married, and have children of their own.  Brigitte has eight grandchildren.

Mel and Brigitte started an educational system of private boarding schools for emotionally troubled teenagers.  The first one opened in 1967 and was so successful that they opened more.    In 1989, Mel and Brigitte moved to the Monterey Peninsula and, in 1998, they sold their five boarding schools and a wilderness program.  Brigitte was widowed in 2002. 

Mel and Brigitte were supporters of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Monterey County since they moved to the Monterey Peninsula.  In 2003, Brigitte joined the Board of Directors at BGCMC where her support and expertise have enrichened the lives of many people.
